HOW TO BREW A COLD BREW TEA
IT'S HOT OUTSIDE!
As Australia swelters through one of the hottest weeks this year, it is a great time to try cold brewing your teas.
What is cold brewing?
Cold Brewing is tea infused in cold or room temperature water for an extended period. The process uses time rather than temperature to release the flavours in the leaves. The cold water doesn't steep out the tannins as hot water does. This results in a more mellow less bitter flavour in the tea.
How do you cold brew?
The process is as simple as adding your tea to cold or room temperature water and allow the tea to infuse overnight.
- Add 1-2 teaspoons of good quality loose leaf tea, per cup of water to a container.
- Leave in fridge overnight
- Strain and enjoy the next morning.
If you're looking for a fuller flavour simply use more tea leaves to create the perfect combinations. The cold brew flavour is lighter and more mellow but often sweeter than traditional tea brewing methods.
