We live in a digital age that requires us to use technology a lot in our jobs.

Technology saves us time and can help us be more efficient at work. Technology also allows us to have information at our fingertips.

That said, being connected to tech all day every day can be draining and often a digital detox is the perfect way to cleanse and refresh your body and mind.

Benefits of a technology detox

Being constantly connected is a detriment to our health and well being.

There is pressure to be available 24/7 for work, which is linked to career burnout, and social media is fast becoming a difficult addiction to break.

Research has shown that a technology detox is a perfect way to help your body and mind feel healthy and happy.

Even turning off your technology for just a day or so and doing away with the phone, laptop and your social media accounts is a great way to free your mind and get the essential break you need to kick-start your health and clear your mind.

How to do a tech detox

By switching off your phone and other devices your relationships will improve, stress levels will be reduced, you will be more productive and creative, and you will sleep much better without the blue light from screens.

This light limits the production of melatonin, which will make it harder to fall asleep.

Once you have ‘switched off’ you will find you have time to read a book, reconnect with friends, or do absolutely nothing for 10 minutes and just be. You will become more engaged, your health will improve mentally and physically, and your attention span will increase.

"All because you unplugged?" you say? Pretty powerful stuff, huh?

So, why not consider taking a 30-day technology detox challenge - or at the very least a two-day break from the technology to see how much better you feel and how the disconnect can free you of the constant burden of being ’switched on’.
